A budget per line, not a total
A funder does not ask how much you spent, but how much you spent on each approved line. In 4ong the project budget is entered per expense line — staff, travel, equipment, subcontracting, indirect costs, as the funder approved them — and every recorded expense is allocated to a line. Consumption shows on each line against the planned amount, so overruns are noticed in the month they occur rather than at final reporting, when they are hard or impossible to fix.
Reporting deadlines in plain sight
Every funding agreement comes with its own calendar: an interim report at six months, a financial report at the end, reimbursement claims at fixed intervals. When the organisation runs five projects with five different funders, that calendar becomes the most common source of emergencies. In 4ong the deadlines sit in the project’s reporting calendar, and an in-app alert tells you when a report is coming due. The alerts are in the app — 4ong sends no e-mails or SMS.
The figures for the report, at hand
For the financial report you already have the figures: the expenses allocated to budget lines, against the approved budget. Each expense carries a reference to its supporting document — a text or a URL pointing to where you keep it — so at an audit or a funder check you know straight away where the original is. 4ong has no file upload and does not generate the narrative or financial report: you write the text, starting from the figures in the panel.
What the module covers and what stays outside
The projects module holds the pipeline, the budget per line, expenses with a document reference and the reporting calendar, and the number of open projects depends on the plan. It does not hold project indicators, does not receive uploaded files, does not generate reports for the funder and does not replace accounting: double-entry bookkeeping stays with your accountant or their software. If you only need a clear record of the budget and the deadlines, that is exactly what it does.
